Obituary

Michael passed away peacefully on March 24, 2024 at Rose Arbor in Kalamazoo.  Michael or 'Mick' as he was known to many and in his younger years 'Mickey',  was born on September 24, 1950 in Kalamazoo to Irene (Nuyen) and Clarence Williams. In 1956 his mother married Floyd 'Pete' Ciesielski who proceeded to adopt Mick and his brother Dennis and raise them as his own.

Mick spent his childhood growing up in Plainwell where he graduated high school. After high  school he furthered his education at Michigan State University. After college, he owned and operated Kal-Pak, a successful printing/packaging company. In the  early eighties Mick met Richard Peart, who became the love of his life. In 2000,  after selling Kal-Pak, Mick and Rich built and managed Schnauzer's Bar & Grille in  Schoolcraft until retiring in 2012. In their 34 years together Mick and Rich  acquired and valued a wonderful circle of friends, many of whom were more like  family. Mick always cherished his friends and their time spent together. Mick also  had a soft spot for dogs, especially their beloved Schnauzers. Mick will be remembered for many things but mostly for his intelligence...his brain never stopped working, and for his great sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Dennis and his husband Richard. He is survived by his  niece Aimee Lee (Brad) Herrington, cousins Janie (Tim) Watson and Sue Moleski,  great niece and nephew Emma and Alex Herrington, many second and third  cousins and many, many friends. Mick will be deeply missed and his memory will  live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.

Perhaps they are not stars but rather openings in heaven where our loved ones shine down and let us know they are happy.

Cremation has taken place and a personal gathering of family and friends will take  place at a later date. Any contributions may be made to Centrica Rose Arbor Place.
