Micai Cruz Gomez (Bubba), of Kentwood, MI, age 22, passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2023. He
was born on January 29, 2001.
He is the second born son of Luisa Shumpert (Silva) and Joseph Gomez, Sr. He proudly
graduated from East Kentwood High School in 2019.

His other loves included his family, especially his siblings: Joseph Jr. and Santos, and the mother of
his child, Lorin. He enjoyed telling stories, gaming, cars, horror/suspense films, and his longtime favorite
color was royal purple.
Micai is survived by his son, Antonio Montana Gomez; mother, Luisa Shumpert; father, Marcus
Shumpert; father, Joseph Gomez (bonus mom, Yolanda Jimenez); brothers:
Jacquaan Shumpert, Joseph Cruz Gomez, Jr., Santos Cruz Gomez, James Gomez, and Jahir
Gomez; sisters: Chiykcole Shumpert, Jaida Shumpert, Kamryn Shumpert, and Emily Jimenez;
as well as a host of great-grandparents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
An extra special thanks to his two grandmothers: Leticia Silva and Laura Gomez; grandpa, Ray Espinoza; and aunt, Adriana
Silva for their care through the years. Thanks to everyone who helped care for Micai while growing
up.
