Melvin “Mel” Eacker, of Muskegon, MI passed away on October 28, 2026 at the age of 73.

Mel was born on August 14, 1953, in Muskegon, Michigan, to Ivan and Ora Eacker. On September 1, 1973, he married the love of his life, Becky Eacker. Together they built a loving family and shared more than five decades of marriage.

Mel is survived by his devoted wife, Becky; his children, Melvin Eacker II and his wife, Jenelle, and Valerie Lockard and her husband, Jeramy; his beloved grandchildren, Dylan Lockard and his wife, Alyssa, Seth Eacker, Corbin Singelton and his wife Rylan and Amberlyn Lockard; and his cherished great-granddaughters, Kinsley and Anniston.

Mel spent much of his career working in maintenance, where he became known for his strong work ethic and ability to fix just about anything. He enjoyed working with his hands and took pride in a job well done.

When he wasn’t working, Mel loved spending time working on cars, caring for his yard, and tending his garden. He found satisfaction in keeping busy and making things better than he found them.

Those who knew Mel knew he was strong-willed and liked to do things his own way. He had a determined spirit and wasn’t one to back down, but he also had a generous heart. If someone needed help, Mel was always willing to lend a hand. His actions spoke louder than words, and his family and friends knew they could count on him.

Mel’s greatest legacy is the family he loved and the example he set through hard work, perseverance, and quiet generosity. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

The Celebration of Life Services will be held at a later date and family will announce those details when they are available.
