Max Anderson, 89, passed away in Zeeland, Michigan on Friday, March 15, 2019, surrounded by family. He was born July 10, 1929 to Therza and Andy Anderson in Fremont, Michigan. On May 23, 1953, he married LaVerne (Andy) Moran, with whom he had three children. He was preceded in death by his parents, all eight of his siblings, and his son Craig. He is survived by his son Jeff (Wendy) Anderson, daughter Pam Anderson, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Max served as an Army Sergeant the Korean War, and worked for 30 years as a truck driver. Having a very active social life, Max was hard pressed to go many places where he wasn't recognized, both in Fremont and his second home town of Muskegon. He loved golfing, visiting the casino, mushroom hunting and traveling. He was a member of the American Legion and Eagles Club, as well as the Moose Lodge in Fremont, where he spent most Sundays catching up with friends. At home, he could be found mastering crossword puzzles, cooking, spoiling his great grandchildren, or wielding a caulking gun or roll of duct tape to tackle any project Affectionately known as Poppy to many, he will be remembered for his kind heart, mischievous humor, and infectious belly laugh. He was the family's pillar and would lend a hand, and even a roof, to anyone who needed it. His generosity extended to everyone who crossed his path, and he donated to several organizations, including The American Red Cross and Disabled American Veterans. His impact on so many lives is immeasurable and he will be greatly missed.
