February 9, 2011 Service: February 15, 2011 Matthew Thomas McKenney, age 42, of Grand Rapids, departed this life February 9, 2011, after a hard fought battle with cancer. Matt enjoyed spending time with his children, being outdoors, music, reading, bird watching, movies and being a baseball fan - especially for the Detroit Tigers. He worked for almost 20 years in healthcare security and will be deeply missed by many. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Matt is survived by his wife, Sue, 3 young children, Andrew, Gwen and Sarah; sister, Christine (Edward) Deforest; brother, Luke; grandmother, Swiger and a number of extended family. Funeral services will be held 11:00am Tuesday, February 15 at the Ofield Funeral Home chapel. Interment Rest Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with his family Sunday from 2-4pm and Monday 2-4 and 7-9pm at the funeral home.
