Matthew "Matt" Aaron Johnson, 51 of Lawton, Michigan passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on December 2nd, 2023. Matt was born January 4th, 1972 to Andrew and Sue Ellen Johnson (nee Vos) at Lake Forest Hospital in Lake Forest, IL. Matt was a graduate of Antioch Community High School, class of 1990.

Matt was an artist, a master craftsmen in woodworking, and a dear friend to all who knew him. Above all, he was a devoted and loving husband, and absolute superstar of a father to four charming, handsome young men -- Aaron, Zachary, Maximus, and Levi.

Matt had a love for life like no other. He possessed the most natural ability to light up a room, bringing joy and laughter to all he encountered. He will forever be remembered for his unique and contagious laughter, coupled with a sense of humor that would make you think he was a stand-up comic. His ability to tell a story in an effortless and hilarious fashion was something his closest friends enjoyed most about him. Matt was like a warm embrace to all he loved. He had no enemies and was genuinely loved by anyone who had the luck of entering his life. The person to know this best would be the love of his life, his bride, and very best friend, Melissa Frances Markus. Matt and Melissa met in 2005 and started dating shortly thereafter. In the Fall of 2010, they were married. In time, they built a beautiful family and ultimately relocated from Antioch, IL to Lawton, MI. In typical Matt fashion, he found a circle of friends in his new hometown in no time, flat.

Matt was employed by Lawton Community Schools where he served as both a bus driver and custodian. Like all facets of his life, he was quickly embraced and loved by his coworkers and students alike.

Matt was preceded in death by his mother, Sue Ellen Johnson; grandparents, Cletus and Ruby Vos, Raymond Johnson, and Betty Jean Jameson. He is survived by his wife, Melissa Johnson; his four sons, Aaron, Zachary, Maximus, and Levi; his father, Andrew Johnson; sister, Emily Hale (Anthony); brother, Adam Johnson (Jocelyne); sister, Elizabeth Serzynski; 11 nieces and nephews, and countless friends.

In the remembrance of a dear husband, father, son, brother, and friend, there will be a celebration of life on January 14th, 2023 from 1:30 - 3:30 PM at Red Brick Hall located at 301 N. Main St. in Lawton, MI.
