IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Matthew Adam
Burrough
October 2, 1977 – November 17, 2020
Matthew passed away peacefully with his family by his side in the house he loved in Grand Rapids, Michigan on November 17, 2020. Born in England on October 2, 1977 Mathew lived and worked in France, Italy, Austria and Greece before arriving in Grand Rapids to work as chef at, among others, the Little Bird restaurant. He loved his work as he did his garden and large collection of cacti and succulent plants, just like his "Railway Grandma". He will be returned to England to be beside his "Ordinary Grandma" who constantly repaired his cuddly rabbit when he was small and which he kept for all his 43 years, we found it in a drawer by his bed. It will go with him and Grandma can add a few more stitches where needed.
He will be greatly missed by us his Mum & Dad, sister Rachel, nieces Ayla & Issy, his wider family and all his wonderful friends around the world and especially here in Grand Rapids who in their kindness and love have shown us the true face of America.
A short extract from an address by Henry Scot-Tuke given in the year 1910 in St Pauls, London.
Death is nothing at all.
It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
Nothing has happened.
Everything remains exactly as it was.
I am I, and you are you,
and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
All is well.
