IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Ann
(Sherman) Jackson
October 11, 1958 – February 8, 2024
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mary Ann Jackson, a cherished soul from Kalamazoo, Michigan. Mary peacefully departed this life on February 8, 2024, with her devoted daughters by her side. She was 65 years old. Mary is survived by her daughters Jamie(Mike) Warren and Kelli (Hau) Huynh and grandchildren Zoey, Cody and Colton Warren and Kai and Hieu Huynh. Born on October 11, 1958, Mary was lovingly adopted into the Sherman family by Flora and Ron Sherman. Mary was the middle child of five including her older brothers Dennis(JoAnn) Sherman and Charles(Jill) Sherman and younger sisters Barb McAdams and Marie Sherman. Raised in the serene town of Mattawan, Michigan, Mary's childhood was filled with laughter and lazy days by the lake. She described her home as the ideal place to grow up. Mary welcomed two beautiful daughters with her husband Larry Jackson. Although her marriage did not endure, Mary's strength as a single mother shone through as she tirelessly pursued her education, ultimately earning an accounting degree from Western Michigan University. An avid reader and lifelong learner, Mary instilled in her daughters the importance of education, inspiring them to pursue health science degrees from Western Michigan University. Mary treasured a lasting friendship with sister in law Sharon (Dennis) Benson. Always curious about her biological family, Mary met her biological mother, Mary Lou and her two children Christina and Emmanouel Paletsakis as a young woman. Shortly before her passing, Mary finally made contact with her long lost biological brother Mark Wyma. Throughout her courageous battle with stage 4 cancer, Mary remained a beacon of hope and love and was blessed to meet and know her three youngest grandsons. Her grandchildren were a source of immense joy and inspiration to her. Mary poured her love and creativity into crocheting, leaving behind cherished heirlooms for each grandchild to treasure. Mary's absence leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her, but her legacy of love, resilience, and compassion will endure for generations to come. A celebration of Mary's life will be held at Haven Church, 5350 North Sprinkle Road, Kalamazoo, MI 49004, on Saturday, March 2, at 11:00 AM. Light refreshments will be provided. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, honoring Mary's commitment to family and compassion for others.
