Mary Ellen Perkins,76, of Portage passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday April 13,2022.
Mary was born November 22, 1945, in Battle Creek, Michigan the daughter of Jack and Ethel (Christmas) Singleton. She was graduated from Lakeview High School in 1964. She attended Kellogg Community College and received a paralegal degree. She also attended the University of Michigan. Mary worked as a paralegal but also worked 19 years at Kellogg's where she retired from.
Surviving are two children Jennifer (Michael) Lem of Portage, Richard (Victoria) Enos of Schoolcraft; a stepson Greg Perkins of Marshall; six grandchildren Paige Enos-Perkins, Olivia (Darryl)l Eckstein, all of Battle Creek, Nicholas (Kate) Enos of Canada, Katelyn Duck of Indiana, Hannah Enos, and Zeke Enos, all of Schoolcraft; five great-grandchildren Jackson Bernheisel, Ella Bernheisel, Addisyn Milnes, Aubrey Milnes, and Gage Eckstein all of Battle Creek. Preceded in death by her husband John Ellis Perkins Jr., parents Jack and Ethel Singleton, and daughter Angela Enos.
Mary loved to quilt, travel, shop, and spend time with her family. She loved being with her friends sitting and sewing. She loved traveling and spending time in Copper Harbor and going to Tennessee where she lived for a short time after retirement. She liked learning new hobbies such as scrapbooking, painting, basket weaving, and cooking. She had a loving personality and a smile that lit up the room.
