Mary Lou (Zahm) Jakubowski, age 86, died peacefully in her home surrounded by family on Sunday, December 19, 2021. She was preceded in death by her brother, James. She is survived by her siblings: Anna Mae (Bill) Walters, Jerry (Linda) Zahm; sisters in law: Sharon Zahm, Norma Boyle, and Ginny Jakubowski. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, who all consider themselves her favorite: Jamo (Krys) Jakubowski, Lori (Tom) Patton, Darlene (Bob) Debri, Joni Colovos, Patti Barrientes, and Pamela (Don) Johnson; her fourteen grandchildren: Katie (Chris) Rzeppa, Sarah (Josh) Pfennig, Michael (Jamel) Debri, Melissa Cogan, Rebecca (Matt) Swan, Jennifer (Adam) Jones, Brittany Barrientes, Amy (Durant) Crum, Megan (Derek) Roe, Gilbert (Jen) Barrientes, Rachael Debri, Tiana Colovos, Amara Colovos, and Dimitra Colovos; twenty-three great-grandchildren (plus one on the way): Nick, Tyler and Drew Rzeppa; Bri'Aysia, Brooklyn and Brielle Garrison; James, Maddie and Ben Pfennig; Grace, Jakub, Will and Sam Debri; Isaiah, Olivia and Dallas Barrientes; Ella, Lincoln and Charlotte Jones; Hudson and Kennedy Swan; Norah Roe; and Alaia Crum. She was known for her strength, deep faith, quick wit, and the profound ability to make others feel welcomed, valued, and loved. She had a love for hot dogs and never turned down a bowl of ice cream. She enjoyed spending time playing bridge, golfing, doing puzzles, thrifting, frequenting Frederik Meijer Gardens and the Civic Theatre. But her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She would never miss any of her grandkids activities. She will be greatly missed. The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, December 23, 2021 at 11am at St. Jude Church with a luncheon to follow. The family will receive visitors the hour prior to Mass. Live stream is available on the Church's Facebook page. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Hospice. Although her time with them was brief, their impact was profound. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for Dr. Andreas Roiniotis, Dr Ed Hagen and the emergency nursing staff, especially Megan and Kelly, at Blodgett Hospital.
