Mary Green, 77, of Allegan, went to be with the Lord on September 28th, 2019 at the Wings of Hope Hospice Residence. Mary was born on February 14th, 1942 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to the late John and Emma Johnson. Mary was preceded in death by her 1st husband Michael Gowens, 2nd husband Lucius Green; son, Shad Gowens; siblings, Ruby Parnell, Essie Strange, Annie Sue Guyton, Emma Zee Scott, John D. Johnson, and James Johnson; and Grandson Duke. Mary will be missed by her children Duke (Angel) Gowens, Terry (Marian) Gowens, Michael Gowens (Marlene), Yvonne Gowens (Beni), Yvette (Earl) O'Bryant , Mark Gowens, and Melissa Gowens (Dennis), a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Pastor Jeremiah (Jean) Johnson; many nieces and nephews, and many friends including special friends Judith Hoover and Roni. Mary came to know the Lord at the age of 8 through the teaching of her parents. She loved the Lord and was devoted to her children. Mary enjoyed bingo, the casino, music, dancing, singing, and most of all, time with her friends and family. She will be forever missed by her friends and family. A Memorial Celebration will take place Saturday October 5th, at 1pm at St. Johns Church (3299 Academy St) in Allegan, Michigan. A big thanks to Wings of Hope Hospice of Allegan.
