Mary E. Golnek-Deemter age 65, of Freeport, MI sadly lost her battle against cancer early in the morning Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at her daughter's home in Hudsonville, MI. Mary was the daughter of Helen and Edward Golnek of Hastings and was preceded in death by her father, and fiancé Roger D. Todd. She is survived by her children and grandchildren Michael Deemter and his daughter Lydia, Jessica Harrison & Dustin Hohenstein and her sons Christopher, Connor and Cameron; Mary's siblings, Jeri Varney & Jeff McCausey, Pat & Linda Golnek; her nieces Julie & Scott Reid and Carrie Varney & Perry Nickerson, as well as many other family members. Mary put in many dedicated years with the United States Postal Service and will be fondly remembered by her coworkers and many individuals from her mail route. She will be loved and missed by everyone. It was often said that she "never met a stranger" because as soon as you met her she would speak to you as if you she had known you for years. She always had a smile and something witty to say… unless you were on her bad side. If you were you would know it instantly because she would happily share her exact thoughts/opinion openly, regardless of consequence. Yet there was a respect that came with that. Even if you happened to be on the receiving end of her bad side you could still admire the fact that she was always honest and genuine. It was Mary's direct wish that there would not be a formal funeral but instead a Celebration of Life where all are welcome. A Celebration of Life is to be held on Sunday, September 30th at 12pm at 10103 68th St. Alto, MI 49302 A very special thank you to the incredible doctors, nurses and staff at Lemmen Holton, Spectrum Butterworth and Spectrum Hospice, as well as to all family and friends that have helped her in her fight and supported her daughter in providing care.
