October 10, 2014 Service: October 18, 2014 Mary E. Curry of Grand Rapids passed away on Friday October 10, 2014. Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday October 18, 2014 at the Ofield Funeral Home 4500 Kalamazoo Ave SE. Family hour be held at 11:00 AM Mary E. Curry was born on November 20, 1940 in South Carolina to Govener Manning Lee, Sr. and Christine Lee. At the age three the family relocated to Grand Rapids, Michigan. She attended Grand Rapids Public Schools and graduated from South High School. Mary lived to see and enjoy the lives of three generations. She loved her children and family very much. Soul Food dinners for her entire family have taken place at her home for many years. Movie nights were also a part of the festivities. Mary also took pleasure in decorating her home. Mary was a straight forward woman who imparted wisdom into many. Her conversations were also filled with strength, love and purpose. Her generosity and contributions were extended beyond measures. She did an exceptional job at supporting her family by working at General Motors. Mary retired after thirty years of service. Mary was proceeded in death by parents: Govener Manning Sr. and Christine Lee, Sisters: Evelyn Moore, Julia King and Virginia Hunt and Brother: Joseph Lee, Grandson, Darrell Charleston, Son, Howard Lee and Daughter, Shawn Curry. She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her Brothers: Manning and Calvin Lee, Sisters: Jeanette McCoy, Dorothy Lucas and Geraldine Hamilton. Children: Kitti Marlowe, Charmyne McKinney and John Curry III (Tolonda), Grandchildren: Tresha Minter ( Mario) Billy Charleston, Robert Webb, Ashley Willis, Tirrell McKinney, TyRenn McKinney, Treyvon McKinney, Scot Norfleet, Brittany and Meosha Curry, Jennifer and Jalisa Bowman, A host of Great Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
