Mary M. Bouwhuis, age 70, of Byron Center, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, January 12, 2026. 

She was born on September 27, 1955, in Saginaw, to James & Dorothy Yates. 

Mary graduated from Grand Rapids Community College with an Associates of Arts.She married Joseph Bouwhuis in 2013 Mary was employed by Hope Network and Interact. 

She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life like a great book and good meal. She treasured making deep connections with her friends and family. Making a memorable and positive impact on those around her.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Bouwhuis; children, Tracy Carrick, Jerry Maul, and Kimberley Zaagsma; grandchildren, Don Peters, Ivy Heinlien, Jaden Morgan, and Eamon Zaagsma. She is preceded in death by her parents. 

A Memorial Service ill be held on Tuesday, January 20, 206 at 11:00am at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 5333 Clyde Park Ave SW, Wyoming.
