Marlene Ann Bindschatel, 70, of Frederic, Michigan passed away on November 9th, after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by her loved ones. Marlene was born on August 22,1952 to Donald and Regina (Passeno) Ferguson in Cheboygan, Michigan. Marlene graduated in 1971 from Milford High School. Marlene held several jobs in her lifetime. She was most proud of her achievement as a certified butcher.

In 1973, Marlene wed the now late Arthur Johnston and had 3 children, Arthur, Shannon, and Lynn. After their divorce, Marlene married Chester "Marty" Bindschatel in 1994 and gained two wonderful stepchildren, Chris and Erin. Marlene was the foundation of her family. She believed in our Lord deeply and lived life accordingly. She had many passions including woodworking, fishing, horses and spending time with family, whom she loved more than life itself. Marlene had a laugh that was contagious and could fill an entire room. She had a wonderful sense of humor and did not take life too seriously. She was generous with all that she had and with her time.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Chester "Marty" Bindschatel, and her brother Mark Ferguson. She is survived by her children, Arthur (Angela) Johnston, Shannon (Robert) Wolcott, Lynn Johnston, Chris (Jen) Bindschatel and Erin (Terry) Sorenson. Six siblings, Barbara Isrow, Regina Martin, Donald Ferguson Jr., Edith Armstrong, Pamela Haworth and Earlene Bohlen. Also, many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Fred and Lena Meijer Heart Center at Spectrum Health Foundation. A funeral will take place on December 3, 2022, at 11:00 am at St. Mary's Cathedral in Gaylord, MI and a luncheon will follow at a separate location. Burial of ashes will take place in the spring.
