Mark Leonard Simonis, 62 years of age, born August 20, 1955, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 26, 2018. He is survived by his daughters, McKenzie Simonis and Tanya Simonis; a grandson, Brandon Simonis; his mother, Dawn Simonis; a brother, Philip Simonis; one niece, Hilliary; several aunts; an uncle, cousins, and a loving church family. Mark is preceded in death by his father, Leonard J. Simonis (a firefighter with the Grand Rapids Fire Department); and two brothers, David Simonis and Stephen Simonis. Mark graduated from Kenowa Hills High school in 1973. He attended Grand Rapids Community College for classical guitar and was a professional musician playing at many West Michigan venues -- first with his band and later as a solo artist. Mark also used his talents to read for the blind and actively serve his church. Mark loved the country and enjoyed the quiet life of walking the trails behind his home, biking, boating, campfires, and starry skies. In keeping with Mark's wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a private family service officiated by his pastor.
