Obituary for Mark Donaker, Sr.

July 17, 1951 – April 5, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mark Donaker, Sr., who departed this life on April 5, 2025. Mark lived a life defined by quiet strength, unwavering loyalty, and deep love for his family and friends. Mark was a warrior - battling cancer, never complaining, and is now free from pain and suffering. Mark had a steady presence, generous spirit, and a willingness to lend a hand for friends, family, or a project worth doing right. Wherever he went, he made friends—many that lasted a lifetime. He found peace in the outdoors, hunting at Lakeview with family. He enjoyed time at the cottage, but was happiest laughing with a beer in hand with his family and friends in The Barn. Mark cherished making memories with his family. He was proud of his children's accomplishments and always supported them. He will be remembered for the love he had for his family, the pride he took in doing things the right way, and the values he held close: honesty, humility, and showing up when it counted. His sharp wit, gentle wisdom, as well as his endless knowledge of the world, current events, directions to anywhere, and always knowing the weather will be missed beyond measure. Mark is survived by his beloved wife, April Donaker; and his children: Mark Donaker, Jr. (Tara), Mike Donaker, Amanda Lopez (Gerson), and Katrina Scoglietti (Ryan). He was a proud grandfather to Meadow, Kendall, Gerson Jr., Audrey, Stella, Harper, Bryce, Jada, and Aria. He leaves a legacy of strength, love, and memories. A celebration of Mark's life will be held at St. Alphonsus on 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 224 Carrier St. NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505, with a time of visiting from 10:00 am until the time of services, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory. Mark Donaker, Sr. will be deeply missed and forever loved.
