Marjorie Ann "Margie" Wagenaar, age 77, of Gobles, Michigan, passed away on April 22, 2026. Born on September 23, 1948, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to the late John Martin Wiessner and Nellie B. Wiessner, Margie lived a life full of warmth, purpose, and love for the people around her.
Margie graduated from high school and went on to build a long career at KTS Industries, where she held several positions until the company closed in the mid 1990s. Never one to sit still, she spent several years at Vineyard Press in PawPaw, MI before she then joined her husband Peter on the road, and the two spent the next twenty years as truck drivers together before retiring. It was a partnership in every sense of the word, one that began when they married on May 15, 1970, and only deepened with each passing year.
Those who knew Margie knew her generous spirit. She was helpful to a fault, always showing up right when you needed her. She liked to call herself a bad penny, always turning up, and that was Margie through and through. She was a sweetheart with an upbeat outlook on life, the kind of person who could brighten a room just by walking into it. In her quieter moments, she loved working on cross stitch projects and puzzles, and she treasured vacations spent with her family.
Margie poured herself into her church communities over the years, finding special joy in children's ministries. She loved teaching Sunday school and teaching the little ones during Wednesday night clubs, sharing her faith and her big heart with the youngest members of her congregation.
She is survived by her loving husband, Peter Wagenaar; her daughter, Kristie (Steven) Bruin; grandchildren, Emily Bruin and Joshua Bruin; and her brothers, John P. Wiessner and Marvin A. Wiessner along with several cousins and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, David H. Wiessner.
A visitation will be held at Merson Church (3313 102nd Ave Allegan, MI 49010) on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Wings Home in Allegan.
Margie placed her trust in the Lord, and we find comfort in the words of Isaiah 40:31: "But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."
