Marjorie Louise French (Lucking), age 94, of Holland, MI, died on December 22, 2021 in the care of Kindred Hospice at Freedom Village. Marj was born March 5, 1927 in Kalamazoo, MI to parents George Lucking and Alice Lucking (Heidanus).

Marj led a life marked by community service. Having graduated from Hope College in 1948, she served on the Alumni Board from 1977-1984 and was president/past-president of that Board from 1982-1984. With a family cottage at Crystal Lake from 1959, she lived there full-time from 1990-2003, and was a founding member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Beulah, MI. She was a member of P.E.O. International, a philanthropic educational organization, and a member of Hope Church in Holland, MI.

Surviving are her children Theodore (Ted) French (Laurie); Patricia French Beach (Mike); and James (Jim) French (Jenny). She is survived by grandchildren Andy French (Danielle), Ryan Beach (Sarah), Lindsey Beach Ybarra (Russ), and Graham French. Marj was also very proud of her great-grandchildren Henry and Annabelle Beach, and Florence and Mae French.

Marj was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, John D. French. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Richard and Robert Lucking, and sister-in-law Margaret (Peggy) French Hawes.

The family sends their sincere thanks to the health care professionals who participated in the different stages of Marj's journey.
