It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Marion Ilene Harris, age 75, on April 2, 2019 while at Medilodge of Holland under the care of Hospice of Holland. She was born on January 23, 1944 in Vanport, Oregon to Ernest and Mary Hazel Westbrook. Marion married Joe Pat Cox and resided in Spring, Texas while raising their two children. After Joe retired from Diamond Shamrock Inc in Houston, TX, they moved to Mercedes, Texas and became restaurant owners to Ol' Joe's House of BBQ. Marion relocated to Jerico Springs, Missouri with her children. There she met and married Sammie Elton Harris. Marion worked at a furniture manufacturing company, O'Sullivans Inc, and worked along side of Sam on his farm for many years. Marion then relocated to Michigan to be with her daughter and family. Marion loved being a mother, wife and grandmother. She enjoyed being with family and spending as much time with them as possible. Her favorite past times was going out to eat and occasional trips to the casino with her daughter. She met a wonderful companion, Jay Nykamp, and together they enjoyed many trips and social outings together over the past 12 years. Marion is survived by her daughter Nannette (Mike) Thomure of Hudsonville, MI, her grandchildren Samantha and Zoie Thomure, Stephen Cox of El Dorado Springs, MO, Temper (Trevor) Coleman of Buffalo, MO, and her great grandson Spencer Cox of Nevada, MO; her step daughters Glenda (Reggie) Waldron of Roanoke, VA, Donna (Ralph) Daily of Lexington, KY, Lana (Curt) Zarger of Centreville, VA and stepson Marvin Hogue of Stockton, MO; Her loving companion, Jay Nykamp of Holland, MI; Her sisters Peggy Byassee and Mary Lou Smith-Hill of Marshall, TX; Her brothers Curtis (Rusty) Westbrook of Trinity, TX, Jay Westbrook of Kilgore, TX, and Sam Westbrook of Conroe, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Hazel Westbrook; her son, Joseph (Pat) Patton Cox; her sister Betty Sue McMullen; her brother Ernest Westbrook Jr; Joe Pat Cox; Sammie Elton Harris. A celebration of Marion's life will be held at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church, 3151 120th Ave, Holland, MI 49424 on Friday, April 12, 2019 beginning at 2:00pm.
