Marion Louise Thomasma (Dissette) was born on July 18, 1935, in South Haven, MI. Preceding her in death were her parents, Lee & Olivera Dissette and Brother Lee. Marion (Mert) graduated with a Bachelor's & Master's degree in Music from Western Michigan University. First and foremost, Marion was a musician who spent many years playing piano and organ for Churches and School systems in Battle Creek. She also worked as a teacher in Battle Creek Harper Creek Schools and transitioned to a claims adjustor for Transamerica Insurance for 20 years. Mert attended several churches with her longtime association at Chapel Hill United Methodist. Mert enjoyed many activities during her lifetime including; golfing, reading, puzzles, and travel around North America and Europe. Mert will be missed dearly by her family, Kerry, Dale & Mary, Ryan & Susan, 7 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. Her husband of 65 years (Doug) preceded her in death in 2023.
