Marie Catherine Peters, age 82, passed away peacefully on January 5th, 2023. She was born on March 19th, 1940 in Grand Rapids, MI. Marie was a 1957 graduate of Marywood Academy. Immediately after high school she entered into the Dominican Order of Preachers and remained in the order for five years. During this time, she graduated from Aquinas college and started teaching. She later attended Lansing Community College where she obtained her nursing degree in 1976. Marie remained committed to taking care of others and worked in many different areas of nursing. However, one of her proudest accomplishments was that she helped develop the first hemodialysis self-care unit at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, MI. In 1993, Marie moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, where she spent some of her favorite years. She hiked the Grand Canyon, was a member of the Deer Tribe Metis Medicine Society, and simply enjoyed the beauty of the desert. Marie's greatest joy in life was her family. She especially treasured her children and grandchildren, spending time with them whenever she could. Marie also cared for many 4-legged companions throughout her life, she adored her golden retrievers. Marie was preceded in death by her parents Phyllis and Robert Peters, her brother Frederick Peters, and her sister Kathleen Peters. Marie is survived by her loving children Lesly Moore, Gina Potter (Jim), and Michael Moore. Her siblings Roberta Peters, Marian Peters, Patricia Birdsall (Gene), Joseph Peters (Wendy), and her sister-in-law Judy Peters. Her grandchildren Ashlyn Rogowski, Michael Rogowski, Grace Potter, Matthew Potter, Quinlan Moore, and Tahlia Moore. Along with many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Legacies Assisted living and Gentiva Hospice for their care and compassion. There will be a private celebration of life with family at a later date.
