Maria "Mary" (Kuijper) Van Vliet, age 97, passed away on January 25, 2018. Born in Rotterdam, Netherlands, on December 20, 1920, Mary immigrated in 1959 to the United States with her husband Andy and three sons. She later enjoyed her time participating in the choir at St. Paul's Methodist Church (Kentwood) and her fellowship with long-time church friends. Mary loved to travel, garden, and sew. In their retirement years, Mary and Andy enjoyed camping, visiting 49 of the 50 states (including numerous winters in Florida). Their last years together were lovingly spent at Raybrook Estates where they made many friends. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Adrianus "Andy" G. Van Vliet, and her parents, Willem M. and Elisabeth G. (Van Es) Kuijper. She is survived by her three sons, Andy (Kathy) Van Vliet, Jr., Jerry Van Vliet, and Gus (Molly McCafferty) Van Vliet; grandchildren, Brian (Kelley), Craig (Courtney), Jim (Alisha) and Drew (Jess); and great grandchildren, Dylan, Maddie, Alexa, Brock, Max, Carson, Kamdyn, Henley, and Owen. Interment at Pine Hill Cemetery. A private service was held for Mary on February 4, 2018.
