May 5, 2013 Service: May 10, 2013 Marianne Stein, aged 91, beloved wife of George J. Stein who died in 1992, passed away Sunday morning, May 5, 2013. Mrs. Stein was born in Obersdorf, Germany which is located in the Alps. They said she was born with skis on and she skied well into her 60s. She was an active member of the Grand Rapids Ski Club. Marianne was a dental hygienist for many years also. She was an accomplished artist in macramé and knitting. Surviving are 3 step children, Gerhard (Lynn) Stein, Gunter Stein and Gisele Davis, grandchildren, Cynthia (Robert) Diber, David (Ramona) Stein, Curt (Amy) Davis, great grandchildren, Joshua Stein, Trevor, Carly and Camden Davis, Tabitha and Victoria Diber and a special niece, Susan Scott. Mrs. Stein was lovingly supported by her whole family especially Kathleen Lauria and the Elder Helpers. Funeral services including committal will be held Friday, May 10th at 11:00am in the Ofield Funeral Home chapel. Interment Rest Lawn Cemetery. The family will meet with friends and relatives Thursday evening from 7-9pm.
