Margit Eva Szebelledy passed away on September 22, 2020 at the age of 92 at her home in Rockford, Michigan, following several months of illness. She was surrounded by her loving family: her dear son, Laszlo Szebelledy and her two devoted granddaughters, Eva and Isabella.

Margit was born Margit Éva Beliczay in Ráckeve, Hungary, where she met and married her husband, László Szebellédy, in 1956. During the Hungarian Revolution, they fled the country, where they lived as refugees in the U.K. Eventually they emigrated to Canada. In 1958 they were able to move to the United States, settling in Mahopac, New York. This was followed by a move to Yonkers, New York and subsequently, Brewster, New York.

After her husband passed away in 1997, Margit eventually moved to Rockford, Michigan to live with her son and her two grandchildren.

Margit was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and some of her most joyful moments were spent with granddaughters Eva and Isabella. Those who knew Margit knew her for her strong spirit and character, which lives on in her granddaughters. Her will to live life to its fullest was most apparent as she battled pancreatic cancer, slowing down only in her final days as she fought to carry on her daily routine.

Her memorial will be held at St. Patrick Church in Parnell, Michigan on October 31st, 11:00 AM and she will be interred in Ráckeve, Hungary with her beloved husband.
