Margaret Esther Hoover was born on January 8, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan.  She was the daughter of Wright Hoover and Margaret (Byrne) Hoover.

Peg (as she preferred to be called) was an early activist, and brought her organizational abilities to many worthwhile projects.  Namely, in 1964, while involved in the Legion of Mary (a lay organization in the Catholic Church) she was primarily instrumental in founding the Heartline Program.  In 1982, she moved to Grand Rapids where she was active in the Cathedral of St. Andrew's Social Justice Program and volunteered at DeGage, Heartside Ministries, God's Kitchen, and worked helping to house refugees.  The strength of her faith, a hallmark of her life, gave rise naturally to a true kindness and generosity to family & friends as well as the larger community.

In 1995, Peg retired as CFO and Controller from Commercial Store Fixture, a national manufacturer of custom store fixtures.  An enthusiastic traveler and avid book reader, Peg enjoyed her many associations with friends through book clubs and the Northview Senior Center.  Peg loved to entertain and was a gracious hostess who took delight in any occasion to gather for fun.

She was proud of her rich Irish heritage and generously shared her warmth, humor, spirituality, compassion, loyalty, and kindness.  Peg was always upbeat in spite of the physical challenges she endured these past few years and treasured time spent with her daughter, Ann, and her niece, Andrea.

Peg passed away peacefully at home in the morning of February 26, 2023; leaving this world a much better place because of her presence in it.  She is survived by her daughter, Ann Marie, and many loving nieces, nephews, and a host of loving friends.

In lieu of flowers, Peg encourages donations to DeGage Ministries Open Door Women's Shelter Program in Grand Rapids, Michigan and would appreciate masses said in her memory.
