Manuela "Ela" Anderson, age 74 of Walker, Michigan passed away on November 12, 2021 after a long battle with cancer.
Ela was born in Germany to Egon and Lucia Kaps on April 5, 1947 in Buchholtz/Hamburg Germany, and came to the United States to be a nanny in Grant, Michigan in 1967. She became a US citizen in 1976.
She was married to the love of her life Steve, who preceded her in death in 2015.
Together they shared many adventures, including several train rides all over the country. Ela loved to gamble, whether it be at the casino, or playing club keno while having some cocktails, or scratch off tickets. She was a great cook, but also loved treating family and friends to many eating-out ventures.
Ela retired from Onion Crock soups, where she was gifted in making those delicious soups many enjoy eating today. She also loved her TV, and watching Fox News with her cat Mitzy. She frequently posted her political views on Facebook.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Karina (Eric) Jensen and Natalie (Mike) Jenerou; step-son Steve (Bonnie) Anderson; step-daughters Sarah (Derek) Phillips, Larena (Brent) Wallis; Grandchildren Andrea, Steve, Chase, Delanie, Olivia, Violet, Ethan, Nick, Jessica and Loie; Great-granddaughter Sage; Brother Marcus (Monika) Kaps and long-time friend who also came from Germany, Anneliese Ridgeway.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life gathering will be held at a later date. memorial contributions can be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society.
