Obituary

CARNEY, MADELINE MAE - With her children at her bedside, Madeline Carney, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 24, 2016. Madeline lived a long, full 89 years of life; she was born April 12, 1927 in Alma, MI and spent most of her adult life in the Wyoming, MI area. Madeline was preceded in death by her parents, George and Bertha (Donnely) Sanderson, her 5 brothers, sister, her sons Virgil & George Pope and granddaughter Kathryne Guimond. She is survived by her children, Randy (Sandy) Pope, Richard (Kristi) Guimond, Kathy (Philip) Martin; 8 grandchildren, Andrea (Paul) Wagner, Matthew Pope, Emily Guimond, Robert Guimond, Cindy (Dustin) King, Melissa (Jereme) Reeths, Jenny (Mark) Driesenga, Jason (Ashley) Martin; 17 great grandchildren and dear friends Elva Kelley, Jorge & Rose Perez and Donna Christensen; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Madeline retired from Keebler Co. She loved cooking, crafts and spending lots of time with family & friends. Everyone loved her mouth-watering fried chicken and homemade goodies, especially her apple pies, fudge & peanut butter balls! She always kept her candy jar stocked for visitors and was known for her creative gift giving, beautiful gift wrapping and especially for her boisterous, contagious laughter. Madeline was a strong & tenderhearted woman, a rebel in her day, and hilariously witty with an incredible sense of humor. Her memory was meticulous & she touched our lives sharing her stories & advice. She was always there with an attentive ear and warm, strong embraces. Madeline was so loved and will forever be in our hearts. At Madeline's request, no services will be held. She will be buried at Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery; 2894 Patterson Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI.
