Obituary

Lynneth Margy Kohlbeck, age 86, of Cutlerville, Michigan, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at Faith Hospice, Trillium Woods. Lynneth was born on August 20, 1932 in Coopersville, Michigan to Mary and Kenneth Park. She is preceded in death by both her parents and her daughter, Pamela Kohlbeck. Surviving Lynneth in death is her husband, Clifford Kohlbeck, son Dennis (Laura) Kohlbeck, daughter Georgia Kohlbeck, son Douglas (Louann) Kohlbeck, daughter Debra (Eugene) Fisher, sister Mary Dennis, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Lynn grew up in Coopersville, MI. She went to Coopersville High School, and was a drum-majorette in the high school band. In August of 1955 she married Clifford Kohlbeck and moved to Ada, MI. By 1958 they were raising 5 children. Lynn was always active and worked part-time as a bookkeeper in the 60's and then for 6 years owned and operated the A&W Root Beer Stand in Lowell, MI in the 1970's. She gave many high school kids their first job. She was known as "Mom K" to the kids at the Root Beer Stand. She worked as a bookkeeper before joining Cliff in a real estate venture where they operated their own real estate brokerage firm during the 1980's. When she was in her late 60's, Lynn became the Executive Administrative Assistant for a group of Grand Rapids furniture barons who, after retiring, felt they needed to maintain outside offices overseeing the paying of their bills, accounting and working with their C.P.A's, legal advisors, etc. As the group continued to mature, eventually only one remained, Hollis Baker of Baker Furniture (her favorite of the original 9). She worked as his Office Manager, until his death in 2013. Lynn's volunteer service included the Veterans Home, Ada Congregational Church, West Michigan Women's Council of Realtors, Grand Rapids Real Estate Board, Secretary of her Condominium Association, and Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts when her children were young. Lynn loved dancing (where she met the love of her life, Cliff), the symphony, and most especially her family. She accepted each for their individual qualities and never judged their path in life. Nothing made her feel more special than to be with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She reached out to all of them often. She inspired all that she came in contact with to accept themselves for who they were. Her smile filled a room and even in the end nurses would come in to say "you are my favorite patient". Lynneth will forever be remembered as a beloved and trusted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Friend to all of us. She will be dearly missed. The Memorial will be held on Saturday, March 23 at Ada Congregational Church (6330 Ada Drive SE) Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. Service at 12:00 (noon) Luncheon around 1:00 p.m. Donations are being received at Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods or Veterans Affairs in honor of Lynneth Kohlbeck, the addresses are noted below for your convenience: Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods 8214 Pfeiffer Farms Drive SW Byron Center, MI 49315 or Veteran Affairs 3000 Monroe Ave NE Grand Rapids, MI 49505
