Lucindy (Lue) Kimbrell, age 88, of Kentwood passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Lucindy was born in Stilwell, Oklahoma to Dock Andrew and Octavia (Whisenhunt) Hopkins on July 10, 1930. Lue enjoyed being a housewife, bartended for 20 plus years, babysat her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her family, camping, playing cards, bingo and playing on a pool league. Lue is survived by her daughter, Sharon Swanger of Kentwood; her sons, Henry (Edna) Kimbrell of Newaygo and Tommy Kimbrell of Fremont; her grandchildren, Dan Swanger of Hesperia; Bobbie Jo Santayo of Grand Rapids; Roger Swanger of Hesperia; Terry Beardsley II of Hesperia; Tammie (Dan) Gleason of Hesperia; Shawn Rolon-Rosado of Wyoming; Lucindy (Raul) Swanger-Vanderveen of Woodbridge, Virginia; William Barnes (Sarah), Olympia, Washington; Andrew Kimbrell of Grand Rapids; Joshua (Jonie) Kimbrell of Grand Rapids; Ashley Kimbrell of Newaygo; Henry Kimbrell Jr. of Newaygo; Brandon Kimbrell of Fremont; 23 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Lue is preceded in death by her husband, Hank Kimbrell from South Carolina; her parents Andrew and Octavia Hopkins from Stilwell, Oklahoma; her daughters, Barbara Swanger, Judy Roberts and Linda Beardsley; her great-great-granddaughter, Madalynne Palmer; and several brothers and sisters. A memorial service will be held for Lucindy Kimbrell this summer in July around her birthday.
