Lucille Darretta Cione age 94, of Hastings, MI passed away on December 18th 2024, at Thornapple Manor Nursing Home. She was surrounded by family. She was born on October 12th, 1930 to Michael and Amelia Darretta (both deceased).
Lucille lived a full and meaningful life, dedicating herself to family, service, and care for others. She served as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army during the Korean War where she worked as an Army nurse. Later in life she worked as a Registered Nurse and Social Worker, contributing to the care of countless individuals. Her work included being a school nurse, a nurse in a long term drug treatment facility, and ultimately the Director of Nursing in Geriatric Care. Lucille's passion for helping others was evident in both her professional and personal life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Ireland; her sons, Stephen Russo and Brian Russo; her sister, Estelle Pilo; her brother, Robert Darretta; her grandson, Michael Russo; and her granddaughter, Mariah Albee. She is survived by her daughter, Valerie Albee (husband, Richard); her daughter, Eileen Warner (former husband, John); her grandsons, Garrett Warner (Megan); and AJ Warner (Sara); and 7 great grandchildren
Lucille had many loves in life. She loved her dog, (JoséBean). She loved the Lord and attended church regularly. She loved cooking and was known for her incredible Italian dishes especially lasagna. She loved to play scrabble and won more than not! She loved basketball (never missed the Orlando Magic games!) Mostly, Lucille loved her family, she was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend, always ready to offer kindness and support to those around her. Lucille was the epitome of strength and compassion and will be remembered for the warmth she brought to everyone she met.
As her daughter, I can say she was the strongest woman I've ever known and instilled that strength in me. She taught me to be kind, to love always, and to embrace every challenge with grace.
A celebration of Lucille's life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
