On Wednesday, May 15, 2019, Lori Kay Schutte passed away at home surrounded by her family at the age of 58. Lori lived a life of kindness and dedication in spite of living with lupus for decades. Her strength and courage carried her family through a recent cancer diagnosis, which ultimately took her life. She will forever be lovingly remembered by her husband of 31 years, Kenneth, her son Kyle (Melissa), her sister Linda Pate, her brother John Raines, her numerous nieces and nephews, her extended family and in-laws, and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Raines, and her grandparents, John and Evelyn Hotop. A visitation and memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 29, at the GVSU Alumni House, 11150 N Campus Dr, Allendale. Visitation with the family is from 3 - 6pm, with the memorial service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family requests Lori's memory be honored through donations to the Lupus Research Alliance (lupusresearch.org).
