Today we remember Lonnie J Bawkey, a beloved member of the Kalamazoo community, who passed away on December 20, 2023, at the age of 70. Lonnie, a lifelong resident of Kalamazoo, Michigan was born on June 11, 1953, and it is in this very town that he took his last breath, succumbing to pneumonia.  Lonnie was known for his wild and rambunctious spirit. His adventurous nature was evident in his younger years through his love for fishing and hunting, activities that later transitioned into a peaceful appreciation for deer watching. Above all, Lonnie cherished the time spent with his wife, Robin Bawkey, who was the love of his life and favorite pastime. Among those mourning Lonnie are his sister Lynne Minckler, brother Gerald Bawkey, daughter Angie Laarman, and his sons Thomas and Benjamin Bawkey. A Remembrance of Life service will be held on his birthdate June 11th, 2024, to honor Lonnie's last wishes.
