Obituary

Linda Kay Vane (Hastidt), age 72, of Wyoming, crossed into eternity on January 16, 2022. Linda was born on October 7, 1949, in Grand Rapids, Michigan where she was raised by her mother Marguerite Phelps (Burdick) and step-father Claude Phelps. She married Preston Vane on November 11, 1967. They were married 42 years until his death in 2010. She will always be remembered as an extremely giving and generous person who went all out to make everyone feel celebrated and special. She was a long-time member at Grand Rapids First Church. The thing that was most important to Linda was spending time with her family. She enjoyed going on girl's trips with her daughters, and her grandchildren were the light of her life. She enjoyed animals (especially dogs), crafting, and cooking. She will be deeply missed by her two daughters: Kimberly (Joseph) Joslin and Katherine (Ed Harris) Carpenter; grandchildren: Rebecca (Nolan) Davis, Leah Carpenter (Alex Dryden), Elyse Joslin, Emma Joslin, and Edward Harris II; siblings: Janet Robinson and Dale Hastidt; great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and best friend "sister" Debra Hartke. She was preceded in death by her husband, Preston; by her parents Claude and Marguerite; and brother, Roger Hastidt. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 21, 2022, at Grand Rapids First Church, 2100 44th St SW, Wyoming. Burial will follow at 12:30 pm at Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery.
