IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Linda
Van Slyke
March 27, 1940 – September 28, 2024
Linda Lou Van Slyke, age 84, of Kentwood, passed away peacefully in her own bed on September 28, 2024, after a courageous six-year battle with cancer. Linda was known for her infectious sense of humor and laughter, always looking for the humor in every situation. Her vibrant personality and fun spirit touched all who knew her.
Linda spent many summers working in her beautiful garden at Sandy Pines, a place where she loved to spend time. She found joy in traveling, driving her convertible, training her beloved dog Tootsie, and, most of all, spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, April (Karl) Keizer, Hayley (Harold) Cornelisse, and Larry (Jamie) Van Slyke; her grandchildren, Mitch Keizer, Troy (Macy) Keizer, Griffin and Max Cornelisse, Toree (Chris) Gribble, Kailee (Alex) Washington, Sam, Luke, Hannah, and Zack Van Slyke; and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Sandy Taylor; and many nieces and nephews.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Van Slyke; her parents, Elbert and Josephine Heiss; and her brother, Jerry Heiss.
A celebration of the lives of both Bob and Linda will be held on June 28th at Stonewater Country Club in Kentwood. The ceremony will begin at noon, with a short reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Faith Hospice , the START-Midwest program, or the Humane Society of Kent County .
