Linda J. Luckey, age 70, passed away peacefully in her home Oct 4, 2022 after a short battle with cancer. She was born Oct 10, 1951 in Fairfield, IL, shocking us all that she would leave 6 days shy of gifts and pineapple upside down cake.

Linda married her devoted husband, Michael S. Luckey on Jan 4, 1975 after a few dates and flirting over blue light specials at the East Lansing Kmart. They moved to Ionia and became a family with the birth of their only daughter, Alison Marie in Oct, 1978.

Linda loved to love and would help anyone. She could literally make friends standing in the grocery store line. She treasured her co-workers and students that brightened the 20+ years she dedicated to Ionia Public Schools. Mrs. Luckey was a name many, especially those who walked the halls of Ionia Middle School, regarded as an adult they could count on for kindness, understanding and a warm hug! Only the lure of grandbabies was able to pull her away!

'Families are the compass that guides us. They are the inspiration to reach great heights, and our comfort when we occasionally falter.' This quote perfectly describes how Linda felt about family. She always reminded others that we can't control everything and to "Let Go & Let God." The amount of love and support her heart had to give will be sorely missed by her best friend/daughter and son-in-law, Alison and Jon Holmes, as well as the 2 boys that made her a Mimi, Jason and Nolan Hoendervanger.

Linda was preceded in death by her brother, Craig Payton. Her 3 other favorite brothers will miss her sass and humor dearly, Jeff (Janet) Payton, Chad (Natalie) Payton and Brook (Jodi) Payton. Her loving memory will also live on with her brothers and sisters in law, Jenny (Dave) Fringer and Dan (Lisa) Luckey. Linda also leaves behind many nieces and nephews that she adored watching grow up!

Please give generously to Saranac or Ionia Community Libraries, as Linda spent many hours reading and always encouraged others to join in her love for books! A celebration of life will be held this spring, in lieu of a service, as Linda said "Funerals are just too sad." Service Details.
