Obituary

Lelia Mae Davis of Grand Rapids, Michigan passed away at her home at 1:55 pm on December 8, 2022, at the age of 96.  She was born to Ceola Johnson in Mobile, Alabama on April 10, 1926.

Lelia was born an only child whose mother passed away at childbirth. She was married three times and widowed twice to, in order of marriages: Neolin Craig (Living), Jack Davis (Deceased) and Joseph Davis (Deceased).

Mother was a beautiful Ethiopian and loved to dance.  Her mother's sister Adella Johnson, would tell numerous stories of how she would have to go and get Lelia off the dance floor after dancing for hours.

However, above her love for dancing was the love for her children and her home! She kept an immaculate home and demanded that her children do the same. But nothing could compete with her love for Christmas.  She would go all out cooking and baking, and man could she cook! Decorating her home to welcome The Christ Child, Jesus into her and her family's hearts. To capture her Spirit, Lelia was an awesome mother and home maker to nine (9) beautiful children who loved their mother dearly.

Of the nine children Lelia gave birth to, she is survived by five of them, Dr. Robert F Craig, Mattie L Davis, Raymond Davis and Jonathan Davis along with a host of grand, great grand and great great grandchildren with more to come. She will be deeply Missed!

We will celebrate Lelia M Davis Home Coming at: Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Ave S.E, Grand Rapids, MI 49508 on December 15, 2022 service beginning at 2:00 p.m.
