Lee Joyce Clapp passed away, after several years of battling cancer, on Saturday, March 4, 2023 with her husband, Roland, and her family by her side.
Although she died at the young age of 58, Lee lived a full life. She was born the middle child, between two brothers, in Detroit Michigan to Richard and Marilee Weatherly. She grew up in Dearborn Michigan and also in Howell, Michigan, spending a lot of time at her family cottage there that later became their home. She graduated from Edsel Ford High School and then went on to attend Calvin College in Grand Rapids Michigan. It was at Calvin College that she met the love of her life, Roland. She married him at a young 21 years of age. She went on to get a degree in accounting at Davenport college. She worked a at a variety of jobs including Hovinga and Family Fare, to name a few. Later, Lee turned to her dream job, and become a stay-at-home mom. She was also a homeschool teacher to her five kids.
She had many hobbies and interests. She enjoyed photography and never went anywhere without her camera. Her favorite thing to photograph was flowers, food, and animals. Speaking of animals, she loved animals of all kinds. Over the years she had dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, llamas, sheep, goats, a horse, and birds. Her favorites were her cat, Cuteness, and her parrot, Olivia. Lees dad had worked for Ford Motor Company for many years, so she also loved Ford vehicles. Her latest being her Bronco and her beloved Mustang. She also enjoyed quilting, knitting, crocheting, and loved collecting dishes. She loved to shop and her love language was definitely gift giving.
Of all these hobbies and interests what she enjoyed most was her people. She loved to spend time talking and being with her friends and family. She loved and enjoyed being involved in her "9 kids's" lives, 5 of her kids plus their spouses, Glenn (and Karrie) Clapp, Ashleigh (and Steffan) Merrill, Emilee (and Basil) Stein, Matthew (and Alexa) Clapp, and Jeffrey Clapp. she absolutely adored her 8 small grandchildren.
Her greatest joy of all was to spend time with her husband, Roland. Whether that was to bring him lunch on a workday, take a trip to the beach, or most recently to go flying in their airplane, to spend time with him was her greatest joy. He was "the love of her life" as she often said.
People that knew Lee would describe her as happy, bright, sassy, humorous, talkative, generous, and loving. Every time a flamingo, dolphin, or flip flop is seen, they'll think of Lee. She brought light and color everywhere she went.
She had a strong faith in Jesus and was excited to see Heaven (full of animals and beaches of course).
She was a beloved friend, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, and wife. She will be deeply missed.
