Obituary

Larry Gordon Stroup, 73, peacefully passed away January 10th 2023 at home with his family in Kalamazoo. He was born December 6th 1949 in Paw Paw,  Michigan. Larry was the beloved husband and best friend to his loving wife Wendy Stroup. Larry and Wendy were together 40 years, and married over 23. Larry was a loving father to three sons Larry Velasquez, Richard (Shalona) Velasquez, Jesse Velasquez, his daughter Jessica "Johnny" Gonzales, and his God Son Jason Rupe. He was a devoted Grandfather/Papa to Corrie, little Larry Haley, Samantha, Bradley, Summer, MaKayla and Makenzie. A great- grandfather to Peyton, Jaxon, and Elaina. Larry is survived by his sister Kay and proceeded in death by his parents Andy and Mary, his sister Sharon and brother Steve. Larry will be remembered as a strong man who worked many years specializing in roofing and siding and into factory work as he got older where he met many great friends that he kept until he passed. Larry was a person who never met a stranger and would never say no to a friend or family member. Larry loved wrestling, fishing, bird /nature watching, football and racing. Larry raced stock cars in the 80s at a local track Galesburg Speedway known by many as the Pac-Man number 200, carrying on his number and theme is his nephew Cody Warren.

Larry will be remembered for always having a cold Busch with a dash of salt in hand. He was loved and will be missed by many.

Larry's family is planning on having a celebration of life in the spring details will be given when available.
