Obituary

Larry Lee Butcher Jr. passed away at his home on January 1, 2025, unexpectedly. He was 59 years old. Years ago, Larry was given the nickname of Bundy.

Bundy was never married, nor had any children. That doesn't mean that he didn't have "family", though. He was born to Larry Lee Butcher Sr. and Gay Elaine (Strickfaden) Butcher on June 30, 1965. Then later came his sister, Holly Butcher, and brother, Willard Butcher (Barb Madison). Through Willard and Barb, he has his niece Christina Baker and her three children: Austin Barrett, Shilyn Barrett, and Adison Barrett.

Then there are the special friends that he considered his family. Bundy met Amy Smalley many years ago. She and her whole family welcomed Bundy just as he did them. As did Michelle and Jeff Koster and their family. He attended many family functions and celebrations with them over the years. He helped them out over the years just as family does. They did the same for Bundy. There was also Suzanna Rider, Angel Rider, and David Rider who were like nieces and a nephew to him.

Anyone who knew Bundy knew of his love of Elvis Presley. He had so many clocks and pictures that he collected over the years. Not to mention the movies and music. No matter how many times he may have seen a movie, it never stopped him from watching it again. He loved The King that much.

Another thing Bundy loved doing was building model cars. He started doing them as a kid. He would then display them in his home. When he ran out of room, he stored them away. He could go to a store to look for new ones and know right away if he saw one he didn't have. The rest of us lost track of which ones he had and didn't. But Bundy always knew.

He loved working on bikes and making them work again for all the kids around him. Any time anything went wrong with their bikes, they just took them to Bundy. They knew he would get it going again for them.

He enjoyed fishing when he was able. He liked just driving around the countryside in the summer looking for deer or just looking at nature. He loved morel mushroom hunting when he was able. He loved the outdoors.

His favorite thing to do was spend time with his family and the people he loved. Sometimes it was at our homes or out for a meal. Just as long as we were together, Bundy was happy. He loved his family so much, whether it be biological or of the heart. He loved us all.

He was preceded in death by his Mom, Gay in 2017, and his Dad, Larry Sr., in 2020, as well as many aunts and uncles.

Besides his sister, brother and sister-in-law, his niece, and great nieces and nephew, he leaves behind his Aunt Char (his Dad's sister) and Uncle Russ (his Mom's brother-in-law), and many cousins.

Per Bundy's wishes, he has been cremated. There will be some type of gathering later to remember and celebrate him.
