Landon Alan Grego, was born on January 13, 2026, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and passed away on June 30, 2026, in White Cloud, Michigan. Though his time here was brief, Landon made a lasting impression with the kind of joy that could light up a room, melt a heart, and somehow keep everyone on their toes all at once. He was the kind of little boy who did not simply enter a family, but arrived with personality, a mischievous spark, and a smile that made ordinary moments feel special. He was loving, funny, adventurous, and unforgettable in every way.
Landon was the beloved son of Jenny Bonnell and the cherished future stepson of Kaden Grinage who stepped up to be a father figure. He was deeply loved by his brother Dakota and his sister Shirley, as well as by his grandparents Kristal Buttleman, Robert Duff, Amyjo Hall, Joanie Grego, and Lou Grego, and by his future step grandparents Stephanie and Joe Grinage. He was also treasured by TA Buttleman, Unc, and by many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, adopted family members, other siblings, cousins, and all the people who were lucky enough to count him as one of their own. Landon joined his Great Grandma Shirley, Uncle Weezle, and other family members who had gone before him, and there is comfort in knowing that he is now surrounded by love that does not end.
Family was the center of Landon’s world, and he was happiest when he was close to the people he adored. He loved spending time outdoors and with his family, and he seemed to understand very early that being loved and loving others was one of life’s greatest gifts. He brought laughter wherever he went. His tiny hands found their own style of comedy through pulling leg hair and beard hair, a pastime that surely kept the adults humble and the family in stitches. Landon also loved to smile, and his smile had a way of making everyone else smile right back, whether they meant to or not.
He enjoyed watching Cops and his Unc play video games, and he seemed to appreciate the excitement, sound, and action of anything that kept life moving. He was adventurous, and that adventurousness showed up not only in what caught his attention, but in the way he lived with full-hearted enthusiasm. He did not need a lot of space to make a big impact. He could do that from a lap, a cuddle, or with a look that made it clear he knew exactly how to keep the people around him laughing and paying attention. Landon also spent time at Little Ones Daycare, where he loved everyone there and was well loved by everyone in return.
Our faith is in Jesus, and that faith offers comfort as we mourn him now. Even in a life so short, Landon’s spirit reflected the beauty of innocence, love, and the preciousness of every breath. His family will remember not only how deeply he was loved, but how deeply he loved in return. He may have been little, but the space he filled in hearts was enormous.
There is a certain kind of wisdom that children seem to have without ever trying, and Landon carried that with him. He reminded everyone that love can be simple, laughter can be healing, and a smile can be a powerful thing. If life is a story, Landon’s chapter was far too short, but it was written in bright colors, warm hugs, and a whole lot of personality.
As Robin Williams once said, “Spring is nature’s way of saying, ‘Let’s party!’” That quote feels fitting for Landon, because he had a way of bringing joy that was lively, fresh, and impossible not to notice. He may have left this world too soon, but the laughter he inspired, the love he shared, and the memories he created will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Landon Alan Grego will be remembered as a beloved son, brother, grandson, family member, and friend. He will be remembered for his smile, his playful spirit, his love of family, and the way he made everyday life feel a little more entertaining and a lot more meaningful. He was, and always will be, deeply loved. His family carries him in their hearts now, and they will carry his memory with them forever.
