IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kristine A.
Mieras
June 2, 1959 – July 21, 2023
Kristine A. (Vossen) Mieras of Grand Rapids, MI, age 64 passed on into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on July 21, 2023.
Kris was the youngest of 5 children born to Ray and Peggy Vossen. Kris grew up in North Park, attending North Park Elementary, Riverside Junior High and graduating from Creston High School. She went on to
receive an Associate's Degree in Quality Sciences from GRJC, which she applied to her QC Technicians job at Bissell Inc.
Kris was married to her husband Bill in 1979. Together they loved raising their children, playing softball, camping, boating, travelling, visiting with friends and family, and occasionally going to the casino. She looked forward each year to her "girls' weekend" when she would go away with her daughter, granddaughters, and sisters-in-law. In 2000 Kris had her first of many serious health issues, colon cancer. After surgery and chemo, she remained cancer free for the rest of her life. This was followed by a series of other serious health issues. In 2019 Kris and Bill took Amtrak to Reno, rented a car, and saw Yosemite, Vegas, Hoover Dam and many other sights. This would be the last of the travels and camping. In 2020 she was forced into a hospital bed and the use of a power wheelchair. She passed her time watching TV, talking with friends on the phone, and watching what friends were posting on Facebook. She still looked forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas when family and friends would stop over. Kris was the most amazing person I have ever known. Through all the years, all the trials and tribulations, ailments, surgeries and setbacks, she always remained positive and upbeat. She never once complained about her situation and even in the worst of times at the hospitals, she was always friendly and courteous to those caring for her and those around her. She always had a smile and a kind word to say.
Kris was preceded in death by her parents Raymond Vossen and Peggy (Vossen) Vollink, and step-dad Raymond Vollink.
Kris will be terribly missed by her husband of 44 years, Bill; children, James Mieras, Rebecca (Bret) Witner, and Scot Mieras; granddaughters, Rylee and Presley Witner; brothers, David (Cam) Vossen, Richard (Sue) Vossen and Brian Vossen; her identical twin sister and best friend, Kathy Scot; sisters-in-law, Von (Claude) Dulyea and Myra Mieras; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
The family would like to send special thanks to her long-time special doctor Laurie Daum, to the amazing staff at St. Mary's infusion Center, Danna Dykema her visiting nurse and friend for always being there for her, the wonderful nurses at Trinity St. Mary's, doctor Vinayak Manohar, doctor Nicholas Lannen, to doctors Ivan Garza, Eion Flanagan, Omar Abou Ezzeddine, Uma Thanarajasingam, Michelle Burke and the rest of the amazing doctors and nurses at Mayo Clinic who gave us 13 more years with Kris.
