Kress Loren Koster, a cherished father, grandfather, son, and brother, passed away unexpectedly on April 4, 2025, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, at the age of 54.

Kress was born on September 8, 1970, to Steven and Suzette Koster in Battle Creek, Michigan. He graduated from Venice High School in Venice, Florida, where he was known for his three-point shots on the basketball team.

From an early age, Kress had a passion for horses—he began showing at the age of five and joined 4-H at ten. He went on to compete nationally on the Quarter Horse circuit, earning wins at some of the most prestigious shows in the country. Later in life, Kress pursued another dream by opening his beloved pizza restaurant, Mammarias—a place that brought him great joy. A proud University of Michigan fan, he rarely gave up an opportunity to watch a game and cheer on the Wolverines.

Kress's greatest love was his daughters, and he deeply adored his grandchildren, who lit up his life and filled it with laughter. Whenever gathered at his home for movie nights, bonfires, s'mores, or pizza, Kress cherished every moment spent with his family. His memory will forever be held dear in the hearts of his family and friends.

Kress is survived by his children, Kelcie Koster, Bailey (Justin) Koster, and Kaitlyn VanderMeer; his grandchildren, Amara, Alphonse, and Holden Koster; his mother, Suzette Koster; his brother, Kurt Koster; and his niece, Tatum Koster. He is also lovingly remembered by many dear aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Steven J. Koster; grandparents Edward and Genevieve Belcher and Cornelius and Lorraine Koster; and uncles Brent Belcher and Charlie Koster.

A private graveside service will be held for the family, followed by a celebration of life for all friends and family on Tuesday, April 22nd, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Union Avenue Community of Christ, 2140 Union Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49507
