Kirk C. Gent of Rockford, Michigan (formerly of Bangor, Michigan), age 56, peacefully passed away on July 20th, 2021. He was born to Charles and Shirley (Franson) Gent on January 22nd, 1965.
Kirk was born in South Haven, Michigan and was one of four children. He was a 1983 graduate of Bangor High School and attended Grand Valley State University. Kirk honorably served his country in both the Army and the Airforce, doing tours in countries such as Guam and Iceland.
Kirk was a devoted father and had a love and passion for rugby. He enjoyed traveling the country watching his sons compete from youth to collegiate and men's rugby. He dedicated much of his free time coaching rugby over several years, building the community youth program from the ground up in the Rockford area.
Kirk is survived by his loving children Shawn (Gina Schrader) Gent of Cedar Springs, Brady (Maureen Flynn) Gent of Chicago and Jacob Gent of Rockford; his siblings Lynette (Edward) Burrows, Michelle (Jon) Woock and Jennifer (Jason) Poulin. He is predeceased by his parents Charles Gent and Shirley Hecke; his grandparents Charles and Elizabeth Gent and Florence and Carl Franson.
As Kirk wished, there will be no funeral or memorial service, but there will be a Celebration of Life at a later date for close family and friends.
