Kevin Christopher Mead 9/23/1954 - 4/29/2018 Resident of Caledonia, MI Raised in: Grand Rapid, MI It is with great sadness and respect, the family of Kevin Christopher Mead announce his passing on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at the young age 63, after a brief stay in the hospital. "Meister", as he was known to some of his friends and family, was born in Grand Rapids and was raised with three brothers and two sisters. Kevin departed from his wife Terry Arnold Mead just before their 42nd Wedding Anniversary. He had an innate passion for playing golf inherited from his father Robert Mead. Kevin followed his father's footsteps, working and eventually owning Mead Laboratory. The business will continue as a legacy to Kevin and his father. Kevin was known for his loyalty, kindness, personability and integrity allowing him to make life-long friendships lasting more than 50 years. Kevin's word was his bond, and his honesty was well-known. A devoted family man, Kevin will be woefully missed by his wife, Terry Arnold Mead; daughter, Michelle "Shea" Brianne Mead and husband David Faye; brother and wife Dennis and Eileen Mead; sisters Laura and husband David Haslanger; Roberta Mead; 12 nieces and nephews; and 19+5? great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by father, Robert Mead; mother, Thelma Mead; brothers Brian and Colin Mead. If you prefer to contribute electronically we expect to have a site you can visit within the next few days. Kevin was afflicted with and was a supporter of the CMT USA Foundation. The Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, named for the doctors that first described it, is a genetic condition of the nerves that affects 1 in 2,500 people in the United States. People with this condition experience muscle weakness, particularly in the arms and legs. It is progressive affecting the peripheral nerves and causing increased neurotrophy (loss of control and feeling) in extremities.
