Obituary

Kerry Lee Armstrong, age 61, of Pierson, Michigan, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2026, at Trinity Health St. Mary’s Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on May 1, 1964, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Kerry was the son of Debra Armstrong. He graduated from Cedar Springs High School in the class of 1982 and spent much of his life at Little Whitefish Lake in Pierson. As a child, Kerry developed a deep appreciation for nature and family traditions, often spending time with his grandfather, Don, learning the joys of fishing, hunting, and car repairs. He also had a passion for basketball, enjoying countless weekend pick-up games with his cousins, brothers, uncles, and friends.

Kerry dedicated his career to his work, initially as a screw machine operator at Diesel Tech and later assisting his brother Brent at The Lawn Ranger. Despite being diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease in his early 30s, Kerry showed remarkable strength and resilience, managing his condition through dialysis three days a week for thirteen years.

Kerry is survived by his wife of 25 years, Deborah Armstrong; his children, Nathan Armstrong of Pierson, Natasha (Eddie) Fisher of Cedar Springs, and Pam Sattergren of San Rafael, California; and his beloved grandchild, Logan Sattergren. He is also survived by his siblings, Jay Thebo Jr. of Morley, Leah (Joel) Norton of Pierson, Lorna (Greg) Goolsby of Bellview, Florida, Brent (Laura) Fields of Grand Rapids, and Lori (Konrad) Sumner of Zeeland, his father-in-law, Arie Jipping of Rockport, Texas, mother, Debra Armstrong, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his beloved grandparents, Donald Armstrong Sr. and Esther Armstrong (Williams), as well as his father, Larry Fields.

Kerry has been cremated, and arrangements for his burial at Pierson Cemetery will take place at a later date. At this time, there are no scheduled memorial services.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages those wishing to honor Kerry’s memory to make a contribution to the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Trinity Health St. Mary’s for their exceptional care and compassion during Kerry’s time in the hospital.
