April 13, 2014 Service: April 16, 2014 Kenneth Albert VanKampen, 74, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, died April 13, 2014. The son of James and Beatrice VanKampen, Ken stood head and shoulders above the rest, at a slim 6'6" he earned the nickname "Spider". Survived by his daughter Dawn VanKampen, his siblings, Russell (Vivian) VanKampen, Karen Wentz, James Jr (Grace) VanKampen, Yvonne VanKampen and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his brother Ronald VanKampen. He served in the US Army from 1958 to 1964 and received the good conduct medal. Before retirement he was a salesman, a job for which he was well suited. He was friendly to everyone he met. Services will be at Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Ave SE, Grand Rapids, MI on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 11am with visitation an hour prior. Donations may be made to Holland Home.
