IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kelsey Kay
Gibson
September 2, 1991 – July 30, 2025
Kelsey Kay Gibson, beloved daughter of Jerry and Carmella (Arzadon) Gibson, was born September 2, 1991, in Grand Rapids, MI. She passed away to join her heavenly father July 30, 2025, after a twelve-year battle with injuries sustained in an auto accident January 29, 2013. We have comfort knowing that Kelsey was met at heaven's gate by her Papa Arzadon who passed away May 20, 2025, and her 15-year loyal companion and dog Reggie.
Kelsey leaves behind a large group of family and friends that miss her sweet smile and gentle personality daily. This includes first and foremost, her sister Hailey and brother Kegan, whom she loved deeply. Kelsey was the eldest and took being the big sister seriously. The life lessons she shared along the way will forever be engrained with her siblings, with whom she will live in spirit the rest of their days.
Kelsey's love for her immediate family was expanded when Hailey married Cody Van Ham. She became an aunt to Finley Van Ham. Kelsey loved her "Finley visits" when he would tell her about his day and often present her the latest artwork and pictures he made for her.
Kelsey was also the first grandchild on each side of the Gibson and Arzadon families. She was fawned on and spoiled by Nana and Papa (Jerry and Katie) Gibson and Nana and Papa (Rodrigo and Sally) Arzadon along with a slew of aunts and uncles Including Tita Doris Sutherby, Uncle Chad Gibson, Tita Myra and Uncle Dennis Baine, Uncle Brent and Aunt Emily Gibson, Tita Rosalie and Uncle Craig Glowney, Tita Stella and Uncle Ryan Husch and Uncle Rod Arzadon. Over the years she was a babysitter, event coordinator, mentor and counselor to cousins Lexi and Amanda Sutherby, Connor, Sam, Brett and Drew Baine, Gabe, Ethan, Isiah and Bella Gibson, Lydia and Ava Glowney, Lucas and Caden Husch, and Jack and Riley Gibson.
Faith, family and friends were at the center of everything Kelsey did. She was a devote Catholic and member of Saint Pius in Grandville, MI. She was active in the youth program and went on several mission trips and events. Her love of God was evident at a young age when she would write down bible verses and display them around her bedroom with her favorite being Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." And during her 12-year battle…she proved this every day.
Kelsey was truly special. She was sweet, caring and full of light. She had a gentle heart and a way of making everyone feel loved. Her smile could brighten any room, and her kindness left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her. We would like to publicly thank all of the medical staff and care takers who helped smooth Kelsey's often difficult road these long 12 years.
While we will miss her dearly, we are at peace knowing she is in a better place free of the pain, disabilities and limitations of this world.
Services for Kelsey will be held August 14th with a funeral mass at 11 am at:
St. Pius X Catholic Parish
