Keith Edwin
Huhn
March 6, 1951 – August 30, 2024
Keith Edwin Huhn passed peacefully in his home on August 30, 2024 surrounded by his family and dear friends.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Ruth (Augst) Huhn, his mother and father-in-law, Medford and Monica Bailey, his brothers, Tom Banish and Doug Huhn, and his sister, Dolores Beard. Keith is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Sandra (Bailey) Huhn, his children, Kelly (Mark) Wooters and Kyle Huhn and wife Sonja Perakis, his adoring grandchildren, Kasen and Wren Wooters and Julien Perakis, his sisters, Marylin (John Jenkins) Selden, Mary (Roger) Miller, and his sister-in-law, Paulette Huhn, his brother in-laws, Ed (Sue) Bailey and Rick Bailey, 19 nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and nephews, MANY dear friends and his perfect dog, Sydney.
Keith was born in Lansing, Michigan on March 6, 1951. He attended St. Patrick's High School in Portland, Michigan where he met the love of his life, Sandy. After a career at TRW in Portland, he enjoyed substitute teaching and working at the golf course in retirement. Keith felt fortunate to live on both the Grand River in Lyons, Michigan and the 17th green in Brooksville, Florida.
Keith enjoyed decades of golf. He had a strong love for basketball as a player, coach and spectator. He especially enjoyed playing cards and wanted it noted that he was the better cribbage player.
A huge Michigan State University fan, Keith enjoyed many games as a season ticket holder for both basketball and football. He instilled in his children and nieces and nephews a love of Spartan sports, treating them to special outings to games. Tailgates and road trips to away games with friends held special memories for him.
Keith lived life to its fullest and never wanted to miss a thing. He enjoyed theater, classical music, jazz, rock & roll, sports, and day trips. He never stopped learning and he had a deep appreciation for travel. He and Sandy made an excellent team as they explored the world. With many trips to Europe, Italy (for better or for worse) held a special place in their hearts. Keith urged his children and grandchildren to 'expand your horizons' and definitely lived that advice. Keith was one of a kind. His brand of humor may take some time to understand and appreciate, but was rooted in compassion, kindness, acceptance, and a genuine ability to make one know they are special! He took the time to really see people and truly know them. To know Keith was not only to love him, but to be deeply loved by him. Of course, if you were teased by him, he really loved you!
Keith loved his wife, Sandy, so profoundly. They were best friends; they were kind to one another and had fun together. Their love was unconditional and an example to follow. He was the best dad, father-in-law and Grandpa/Opa anyone could ask for. He was involved in every aspect of his kids' and grandkids' lives. He supported them and lifted them up, gave them advice and cheered them on.
Keith loved his family deeply and was a father figure to many! He cherished his many friends and family, wanting nothing more than to express to each one of them how much they mean to him.
Keith will be dearly missed, but always in our hearts. We are all the lucky ones! We would like to deeply thank Keith's Hospice team members, Jessica and Troy, who treated us like family.
