Kay Ann Mertes, 68, of Grand Rapids, MI, passed away unexpectedly on November 05, 2022.

Kay Ann was born on October 25, 1954 to Edwin Walczak and Norma Davison Walczak in New Castle, Pennsylvania. When Kay Ann had her first and only child, Aurora, she decided to dedicate her life to being a fantastic and wonderful mother and later on, grandmother. Kay Ann excelled at propping up her daughter and grandson, Kyran, and supporting them through the many passions and avenues of their lives. She made it her mission to improve the lives of others. Her spunky and feisty personality shined and she always made herself available to listen or make you laugh. Kay Ann was passionate about her adorable dog Little Bit, cooking, sewing, reading and her family. We will miss her greatly.

Kay Ann was predeceased by father Edwin Walczak, mother Norma Davison Walczak and her brother Micheal Walczak.

She is survived by her daughter Aurora Mertes (Bailey, MI), grandson Kyran Plumhoff (Bailey, MI), stepson Steven Mertes (Naperville, IL), stepson Jonathan Elderson (Sumvaa Resorts, IN) and brother Edward Walczak (Grand Haven, MI).
